The research project “Kernkaskade” aims to include a modified bio-char based sorption material into vertECO with the aim of improving the cleaning performance per root volume and absorb nutrients that can be later recycled into agriculture / plant production as a soil amendment.

The project is done in collaboration with the AIT (Austrian Institute of Technology, a leading research organisation in Austria)) and is partially funded by the provincial government of Lower Austria. The end result is a more efficient vertECO that allows not only water recycling and preservation, but also re-valorizes many important nutrients and makes them available as fertiliser / soil improvement.
